The U10 is the first fully integrated drone based laser methane leakage detector. The U10 is fully integrated for use with the most advanced commercial drone platform available - the DJI Matrice 200 series aircraft. The U10 is a lightweight, high sensitivity gas detector based on Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), which allows for rapid identification of methane from up to 100 meters away, or at a concentration as low as 5ppm.m. In addition to the methane sensor, on board the U10 payload is a 720p visual camera that gives the pilot and crew a complete aerial overview of the suspected leakage
Because the U10 is powered by DJI's Skyport and is fully integrated with the Matrice 200 series, the pilot has full pitch control of the sensor allowing them to pitch the gimbal and pinpoint gas leaks in dangerous hard to reach areas while keeping personnel safe. By utilizing the Matrice 200 series platform, the U10 can be used in combination with DJI's Zenmuse series payloads such as the Z30 optical zoom camera, XT2 dual optic thermal imaging payload, and the X5S and X7 visual light cameras.
Both the aircraft and U10 payload can be controlled using the a-ONE iOS application. Through this application, the pilot and crew can plan flight missions, view flight paths, monitor gas concentration levels and historical trends in real time, flag specific points along the flight path for abnormalities, and generate inspection reports. This capable system is a great tool for inspecting and maintaining facilities such as liquid natural gas plants, gas pipelines, and gas storage tanks.
